Painting took me days with peeling old graphics, masking, primer, and 2 coats of paint. the vinyl went on in a few hours working by myself. therer are several guys that have also done it over on pontoonstuff since i did mine. i have several pics in my rebuild over there of when did both my paint and the vinyl.. I've seen old pontoons with painted panels with flaking paint. i sure don't want that but i don't know if they're that hard to paint or the crummy-looking ones weren't prepped properly. pontoonstuff has rolls of new aluminum for $179. this makes more sense but then i noticed it's thinner (.015) than house siding (.019 & .024) & much more expensive.. Pontoon replacement fence paneling 12' long aluminum paneling, available in 18" or 24" tall. (aluminum paneling shown installed) warning: this paneling has sharp edges, use extreme caution when cutting and during installation. replace the aluminum paneling on your pontoon boat's fence railing.thin enough to cut easily yet strong enough for a lifetime of trouble free service..

Re: rustoleum for painting pontoon siding clean the aluminum with soap/water reclean the aluminum with alumiprep or equivelent rinse with water scuff the surface and wipe with acetone or such to remove grit. prime with either alodyne, an etching primer, zc primer, epoxy primer, ect.
