Wood Used For Boat Trailer Bunks

wood used for boat trailer bunks

@help ok so went to pull the boat out and thank god i walked up to get truck as the crew with me today would have just backed it down and it would have been a disaster! i'm in a time crunch as with it being a holiday weekend i can only leave my boat in the water where it's at tonight. what is the best wood to use from home depot or lowes also is there a carpet i can get from there that will work?. What is the best type of wood for trailer guides? do you coat the wood or just use it bare? on my last boat for my trailer bunks i used pressure treated and waterproofed it. but i know this may have corrosion. so not going this route. i am thinking of using pine or cypress and waterproofing. its going to be about 5ft x 4 inches x 1 inch.. Trex is not strong enough for the length of most bunks. if you have flat bunks (not ones that need to taper the curve of the bottom of a hull, i'd use iron wood. its a hardwood from the tropics so its very resistant to water damage. i used it on the rear bunks of my prior 25 shockwave tremor..

wood used for boat trailer bunks Turboman, we replaced bunks on a trailer for a 28 foot pontoon boat a couple years ago. basically theres 28 feet of bunk, and 2 for each pontoon. double that comes to 112 feet of 2x4 and carpeting.. I have an early 90s 28ft harris pontoon on a bobcat trailer that needs the bunks replaced. i recently found out first hand of the corrosiveness of pressure treated lumber with aluminum. so what should i be using for lumber for the new trailer bunks. planning on using 2x6..
