Base: cut out a rectangle of cardboard that is 5" wide and 9" in length. draw a line down the center of the base piece for future reference. sides: cut out two rectangles of cardboard that is 6.5" in length and 1” wide.. Even if you don’t live near a lake or ocean, you will get to do some sailing in this science activity as you build your own toy sailboat. but first you have to make sure your boat doesn’t capsize!. And together our toy boats made a fine flotilla for play on a sunny day. this was a great activity for a hot day as the building took place inside in the shade and then we went outside to go sailing once the mid-day heat had passed..
